Nordic-Baltic Eight preparing new aid packages for Ukraine

Eight Scandinavian and Baltic countries have announced new aid packages and various initiatives to support Ukraine, reports Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
During his visit to Denmark, Umerov attended a meeting of the Nordic-Baltic 8, where defense ministers from Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania gathered.
According to Umerov, each country presented its plan for further support of Ukraine at the meeting.
"Sweden is preparing a new major military aid package, including strengthening our air defense. Importantly, deliveries are expected this year. ," said the Minister of Defense.
Norway is allocating one of the largest aid budgets — €7.8 billion in 2025. The funds may be used to enhance Ukraine's maritime and air defense capabilities. Norway also supports military training within the Nordic-Baltic Brigade and invests in Ukraine's defense-industrial complex.
"Lithuania is working on strengthening our air defense, investing in the defense industry, and contributing to the Czech initiative. Artillery shells remain a priority," Umerov added.
Latvia is focused on equipping Ukrainian units, supplying shells, and collaborating with Ukraine's defense industry, the minister explained.
"Iceland is participating in investments in Ukraine’s defense industry under the Danish model and assisting in preparing the Nordic-Baltic Brigade," said Umerov.
Additionally, Estonia is preparing new shell deliveries and is ready to join the Nordic-Baltic Brigade training. Denmark is considering additional investments in Ukraine's defense-industrial complex.
"The Nordic and Baltic countries remain among our most committed allies. They are not only increasing military aid but also actively supporting the development of our defense industry," the minister emphasized.
Support for Ukraine from partners
Earlier, Umerov announced that the Netherlands would allocate €700 million for drones.
It was also revealed that Germany had formed a military aid package for Ukraine worth approximately €3 billion. Rapid funding for this package is currently being discussed.
Meanwhile, Poland has begun providing Ukraine with its 46th aid package, worth €200 million.
In addition, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced that they would sign a guarantee agreement for €1.95 billion.
